Write to us and a person reads it. Include your phone model and what the app was doing when it went wrong — that usually turns a week into an afternoon.

Does it work without signal?

Yes. Routes, pins, photos, the journal and the fog are stored in a database on the phone, so the app opens, records and saves in airplane mode too. Anything that syncs does so later, and only if you turned it on.

What does it do to my battery?

Recording uses GPS continuously, so it costs what any GPS tracker costs. On Android it runs as a foreground service so the system does not kill it mid-walk; on iOS it uses background location for the same reason. When you are not recording, nothing runs.

What actually reaches your servers?

By default, only what you send. Raw GPS tracks, fog, the journal, plans, saved places and your pet chat history stay on the device. The server sees a route when you publish it, a photo when you upload it, a message when you send it to a room, and what an account needs to work: your sign-in, your sessions and, if you subscribe, your plan.

What if I lose my phone?

Turn on backup and your walks, fog, memories, places and photos are copied to your account, encrypted. The key is wrapped so the server cannot open it; on a new phone, your 16-word recovery phrase brings everything back. You can also export everything as one sealed file.

Why do I need an account?

Rooms, sharing, backup and the pet all need a server, so the app uses one sign-in for all of them. Most of what you do afterwards still never leaves the phone. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code sent to your email.

What does the pet send when I ask it something?

Nothing until you allow it. Before your first message the app shows what will be sent and asks. After that: the text of your message, any photos you attach, and your location rounded to about a kilometre. The model runs on Cloudflare Workers AI and keeps nothing; to name real places, a place lookup and a web search see the place and city, never you. The conversation itself stays on your phone, and you can switch the pet off in Settings.

Are rooms really private?

Room messages and photos are end-to-end encrypted. Keys are wrapped per member and per device, messages are sealed with AES-GCM, and you can verify a safety number with the person in front of you. The exception is live location: it passes through the server unencrypted, only to the people you chose, and none of it is stored.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, under Settings, or from the web without installing anything. Server-side deletion finishes within minutes. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription: cancel Atlas in the App Store or Google Play, or the store keeps billing.

Can I get my walks out?

Any walk exports as GPX or GeoJSON from the share sheet. Start and end points are trimmed by default, so a file you give someone does not begin at your front door.

Is there an iPad version?

Not yet. Pathie is a phone app for iPhone and Android, made to be carried while you walk.
